Operation Whirl Stroke Frees Five Kidnap Victims, Seizes Arms in Benue
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke rescued five kidnapped victims in Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue State. The hostages—held from ten days up to over a month—were freed after soldiers closed in on their abductors along Chede-Takun and Tor Donga roads. In a related raid on March 13 at Mtam Village, Utange Ward, troops acted on credible intelligence. Though the bandits fled, security forces recovered six pistols, multiple magazines, a Dane gun, over 100 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a smoke grenade, combat gear, and charms. Major General Moses Gara lauded the troops’ professionalism and urged them to sustain pressure on criminal elements. He also thanked the public for timely tips and called on residents to report any suspicious activity promptly.
