Police Reportedly Arrest OK Movement Coordinator During Uyo March
Akwa Ibom police reportedly arrested Elijah Noah, the state coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, during an Independence Day march in Uyo on October 1. Videos circulating online appear to show armed officers taking Noah into a police vehicle. The reason for his arrest was not immediately clear. Accounts from the gathering also alleged that tear gas was fired as supporters assembled. The movement is mobilising support for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections. The Nigeria Democratic Congress has previously said it did not authorise the movement to form a presidential campaign council, describing it as a support group within the wider political space.
