Miracle of Faith: Jesus Heals the Boy Possessed by an Unclean Spirit

When Jesus returned to His disciples, He found them debating with the teachers of the law over a boy tormented by a spirit that robbed him of speech. The spirit threw the child to the ground, caused violent convulsions, and even foamed at the mouth. The boy’s father appealed to Jesus to help, admitting, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded it to leave. The evil presence shrieked and convulsed the boy violently before departing, leaving him lifeless in appearance. Jesus then lifted the boy to his feet, and he stood healed. Later, His disciples asked why they had failed to cast out the spirit, and Jesus explained, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”
