Troops Repel ISWAP Attacks in Borno and Yobe, Kill 48 Fighters
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai say they repelled coordinated attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, and Buni Yadi in Yobe State between 29 and 30 October 2026. The military said a counter-offensive against fighters who attacked the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi lasted about five hours. It said 48 insurgents were killed during the engagements. Troops reportedly recovered 42 AK-47 rifles, machine guns, a 60mm mortar, ammunition and other items. One soldier was killed, while two others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.
