Ex-CCT Chairman Danladi Umar Remanded in Kuje Prison Over Corruption Allegations
Justice Peter Kekemeke of the FCT High Court in Maitama has ordered that former Code of Conduct Tribunal chairman Danladi Umar remain in custody at Kuje Correctional Centre. Umar was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a four-count charge of conferring undue advantage on himself while in office. He pleaded not guilty to all counts. EFCC counsel requested time to respond to a bail application filed by Umar’s defence. The court adjourned the bail hearing until July 15 and maintained the remand order. This development adds to Umar’s ongoing legal battles since his exit from the tribunal.
