African Democratic Congress to Appeal Deregistration Ruling at Court of Appeal

African Democratic Congress to Appeal Deregistration Ruling at Court of Appeal

The African Democratic Congress says it will challenge the Federal High Court ruling that ordered its deregistration. Its National Publicity Secretary spoke on a national television programme and confirmed the party will file an appeal at the Court of Appeal by Tuesday morning. The party remains undeterred by the judgment. It says it has built a formidable structure and conducted extensive internal elections, describing its primaries as the most ambitious among Nigerian parties. According to media reports, Justice Peter Odo Lifu ordered INEC to deregister the ADC, the Accord Party and three other political associations. The court also barred them from participating in the 2027 elections until they meet constitutional requirements.
