Imo Police Recover Charred Remains of Ochia Monarch and Five Others After Ambush
On 10 April 2026, armed assailants stopped the vehicle carrying Eze Barrister Paulinus Ekwueme, monarch of Ochia Kingdom, along Asa Awara Road in Ohaji/Egbema LGA. The attackers set the vehicle ablaze, killing the traditional ruler and five other occupants. The Imo State Police Command, led by Commissioner Audu Garba Bosso, mobilized tactical teams to the scene. Spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye confirmed the burnt bodies were retrieved and taken to Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, for preservation and autopsy. Police have launched a full investigation and deployed additional units in concert with other security agencies. The command urges anyone with information to visit their nearest station or call the emergency lines. Residents in the area can expect more patrols as officers work to arrest those responsible.
