Hon. Ibe Okwara Launches Free Medical & Surgical Outreach for Ohafia/Arochukwu Residents — 1 of 4
1 / 4

In a bid to improve access to quality healthcare, Hon. Ibe Okwara has launched a three-day free medical and surgical outreach across Ohafia and Arochukwu LGAs. The event runs from 14 to 16 July at six primary health centres, offering consultations, lab tests, free drugs, eye screenings, and surgical procedures. The outreach is organised by the Okwara Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health. A team of doctors, surgeons, pharmacists, optometrists, and over 30 nurses will provide services at designated centres. Complex cases will be referred to tertiary institutions with full support from the foundation. Community leaders and families are encouraged to bring elderly relatives and patients with chronic conditions. Prospective surgical patients should come with previous medical reports for evaluation and clearance. Beneficiaries have praised the initiative for its professionalism and impact. The outreach highlights Hon. Ibe Okwara’s commitment to responsive representation and community development.

Is there any preliminary estimate on participant numbers for the outreach in each community?

It's great they're offering free drugs and eye screenings, but six centres over three days might feel too stretched for proper care.

I'm concerned the outreach lacks reliable follow-up plans for surgery patients who may need more care after initial treatment.

Residents should gather any medical records beforehand and arrive early to secure slots, especially for lab tests and specialist consultations.
