NCDC Says Monitoring of 62 Ebola Contacts Will End by November 13
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says monitoring of 62 contacts linked to Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola case is expected to end between October 31 and November 13, 2026. Contact tracing and surveillance are continuing. Nigeria confirmed the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in a woman who arrived from Uganda. She developed symptoms after entering the country and was confirmed positive on October 20. She was later medically evacuated to Switzerland for treatment, accompanied by her husband, who was identified as a close contact. The NCDC said 18 samples have been tested so far, with one positive result from the index patient and 17 negative results. The agency has activated its response system, expanded tracing efforts and strengthened isolation, testing and infection-prevention plans in the FCT and other high-risk states.
