Warri Police Rescue Abducted 2-Year-Old, Prevent Mob Lynching
Operatives of the Quick Response Squad in Warri rescued a two-year-old child on Sunday, May 10. The suspect was caught at Igbudu Market with the toddler hidden in a sack bag. Vigilant residents had raised the alarm as they suspected child stealing. Police arrived just in time to stop the mob from lynching the suspect. The injured suspect received treatment at the Police Clinic before being taken into custody for investigation. A follow-up probe on May 11 led detectives to trace the child’s parents. The toddler was reunited safely with the family in the presence of Hausa community leaders in Warri. The suspect confessed to being hired by an unknown individual to abduct the child. Police are now working to arrest the alleged accomplice and uncover the wider network.
