Tinubu Orders Security Agencies to Rescue Victims of Borgu Mass Abduction
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Armed Forces, Police, DSS and other security agencies to launch a coordinated operation to rescue people abducted during attacks on communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. Armed men reportedly raided Dekara, Kpenya, Sabon-Gida and Gidan-Zana on August 21, attacking worshippers during Friday prayers. A video circulating online allegedly shows about 600 women, children and elderly people being held in a forest, although the figure and location have not been independently verified. Reports also indicate that at least 30 people were killed in attacks on four mosques. Tinubu condemned the attackers and directed service chiefs to provide regular updates until all abducted persons are accounted for. He also pledged federal support for relief, recovery and security reinforcement in Niger State.
