NCC Seizes Suspected Pirated Books Worth ₦7m in Abuja Market Raid
The Nigerian Copyright Commission has seized cartons of suspected pirated books valued at about ₦7 million during a raid at Garki Market in Abuja. The commission said the operation followed intelligence about a store allegedly used to reproduce and distribute books without permission from copyright owners. The premises were sealed after the books were removed. Among the titles recovered were school textbooks, mathematics and science materials, as well as literary works including “Purple Hibiscus” and “The Magic of Thinking Big”. The NCC said it will investigate the source, ownership and distribution network behind the publications. The commission urged authors, publishers and members of the public to share information that can help it identify and disrupt piracy networks.
