Jibrin Barau Named APC Consensus Candidate for Kano North 2027 Senatorial Seat

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau has emerged as the APC consensus candidate for the Kano North senatorial election in 2027. He was selected after former Minister Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo withdrew his bid. Gwarzo stepped down following a request from President Tinubu, conveyed through Vice President Shettima. He formally withdrew at a meeting of key APC stakeholders held at the Kano State Government House. The gathering included Governor Abba Yusuf, former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, House member Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, State APC Chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa and Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo.
