Flamingos’ Adegbuyi, Opara Win Top Awards After WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup Triumph

Nigeria’s Flamingos were crowned champions of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup after a 4-0 victory over Togo in Côte d’Ivoire. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi won the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award after scoring four goals and providing assists as Nigeria won all five matches. Goalkeeper Onyinyechi Opara received the Golden Glove after keeping four clean sheets in five appearances. The Flamingos finished top of the standings with 15 points, ahead of Ghana and Burkina Faso. They will next face North Korea, Poland and Puerto Rico in Group B of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, beginning with Poland on October 17.
