Navy Destroys Suspected Militants’ Hideout in Cross River Coastal Community
The Nigerian Navy Ship Victory has destroyed a hideout allegedly used by suspected militants in Ine Ikoridung, a coastal community in Cross River State. The operation followed intelligence that the group had moved into the area after military pressure disrupted its activities elsewhere. The suspects reportedly fled when naval gunboats approached, and no arrests were made. Troops searched identified huts and recovered five empty cartridges, military and police camouflage items, and a notebook said to contain information on suspected militants previously arrested. The Navy said the huts were demolished to stop the area from being used as a criminal base again. NNS Victory said it would sustain operations against criminal groups in the Dayspring axis and other parts of the state’s maritime environment.
