US Revokes Over 175,000 Visas as Trump Tightens Immigration Enforcement

US Revokes Over 175,000 Visas as Trump Tightens Immigration Enforcement

The United States says it has revoked more than 175,000 visas issued to foreign nationals since President Donald Trump returned to office, as the administration expands immigration enforcement. The State Department said most revocations followed alleged criminal conduct or encounters with law enforcement. Cases cited included assault, driving under the influence, theft, drug offences, immigration fraud and violations of visa conditions. Officials also said some visas were cancelled over social-media posts considered to encourage violence, national-security concerns and alleged “birth tourism.” The crackdown could affect Nigerians and other foreign nationals seeking to study, work, visit or live in the United States.
