The debate is not only about who gains or loses from sex. It is also about demand. When people strongly want something, others may find ways to attach a price to it, whether through cash, gifts, dates, bills or long-term support. Criticising women who monetise sexual access without examining the men willing to pay ignores part of the issue. If demand reduced, the market around it would also shrink. Some people see relationships and direct payment as different forms of exchange. Others reject that comparison on moral or emotional grounds. Either way, the discussion raises questions about desire, power, consent and the expectations people bring into relationships. Moral condemnation alone is unlikely to end prostitution while willing buyers and willing sellers remain. The more difficult question is why that demand persists and how society chooses to respond to it.
