Fake Soldier Nabbed During Patrol in Malumfashi, Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade arrested a man impersonating a Nigerian Army soldier during a routine patrol in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation took place at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026, when troops at the Forward Operating Base noticed the suspect wearing woodland camouflage shorts. A search uncovered a forged army identity card, four ATM cards, a wristwatch and ₦17,000 in cash. The suspect and all exhibits are now in military custody pending further investigations. Authorities say the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb impersonation by security personnel and other criminal activities in the region.
