Ebonyi Assembly Committee Commends Nwifuru Over Sports Ministry Revival
The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Youth and Sports has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru over efforts to revive youth and sporting activities in the state. During an oversight visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Abakaliki, the committee said the ministry had been inactive for 17 years. It credited the administration with reviving the ministry and establishing Abakaliki Football Club to support youth engagement and talent discovery. The commissioner said the ministry has also supported NYSC members with monthly allowances, provided subventions to the National Youth Council of Nigeria and proposed an annual school sports festival. Plans are also underway for an Ebonyi Youth Volunteers Force focused on drug-abuse control and behavioural change. The committee pledged support for the ministry and called for the revitalisation of the Ebonyi State Sports Council.
