Early Morning Crash on Lekki-Epe Expressway Sparks Inferno, Two Dead

Early Morning Crash on Lekki-Epe Expressway Sparks Inferno, Two Dead — 1 of 2
1 / 2

A gas tanker and a tipper truck collided near the Tera Ahmed bus stop in Sangotedo, Ajah, in the early hours of Saturday. The impact triggered an explosion and fire that spread to three adjoining warehouses and ten roadside shops, including a gym and a generator house. Lagos State Fire and Rescue teams from Lekki Phase II, Oniru and Epe II stations arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control. Their swift action also prevented damage to a nearby petrol station and its fully loaded tanker. Tragically, the tipper driver and his assistant were burnt beyond recognition. The gas tanker driver escaped without injuries. Crews are now clearing wreckage as normal traffic begins to return to the Lekki-Epe corridor.
