Why ‘Gringory Mobs’ Dismiss Nigeria’s Positive News

Nigeria’s politics often aligns along regional and ethnic lines. I’ve noticed a group I call the “Gringory mobs” dismiss genuine achievements—like the recent rescue of kidnapped schoolchildren—by claiming ransoms were paid instead of a successful rescue. These loyalists rarely admit their leader’s mistakes. They target anyone who questions his record and blame the government for every setback—from his days in APGA and PDP to his time in the Labour Party, ADC, and now the NDC. Meanwhile, President Tinubu’s administration is tackling long-standing economic and security challenges. Road projects, plans for state policing, market recovery, and military successes demonstrate steady progress, even if some refuse to acknowledge it. My advice to the “Gringory mobs” is simple: respect democratic choice and stop demonizing the president. And to President Tinubu: focus on governance rather than online criticism—these developments across Nigeria speak for themselves.

I understand the anger, but dismissing ransom claims outright might ignore valid concerns about how rescues are funded.

Media outlets should publish clear breakdowns of rescue operations and funding, so public trust grows with transparent reporting.
