Oyo Police Launch Investigation into Viral Video of Abducted Teacher’s Beheading

The Oyo State Police Command is probing a viral video that allegedly shows the beheading of a teacher kidnapped during last Friday’s attacks in Oriire Local Government Area. DSP Olayinka Ayanlade told Channels Television on May 19 that the victim was a mathematics teacher seized alongside students in the Yawota and Esiele communities. Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed one teacher was killed, but the government has not confirmed details of the beheading. The police say they are carefully examining the footage and have made contact with the family to verify what happened. Investigators are also determining whether the assailants should be classified as terrorists or bandits.
