Why Love Alone Is Not Enough for Marriage, Relocation or Career Sacrifice
Love can make people overlook serious warning signs. In the early stages of a relationship, both partners may be showing only their best sides. Real character often becomes clearer during financial pressure, family conflict, illness, anger, and other difficult seasons. That is why I believe nobody should marry, relocate, or abandon a stable career simply because of strong feelings. A relationship needs honest conversations about money, values, faith, family expectations, personal goals, and how both people handle conflict. Infatuation can fade, but the consequences of a rushed decision can remain. In Nigeria, relationships can also involve parental expectations, tribe, religion, extended-family demands, and financial responsibilities. Love matters, but it should not replace due diligence. Before making a major sacrifice, protect your independence and assess your partner's character, discipline, maturity, and ability to face hardship with you. A lasting union should be built on mutual respect, shared values, financial alignment, responsibility, and a daily commitment to choose each other with clear eyes.
