I Fought My Mum’s Boyfriend After He Put His Hands on Me. Should I Apologise?
I have always been very close to my mum, especially because she had me young. When I left for university, she started dating someone seriously, and I tried to accept it even though I did not feel comfortable around him. During a visit home, he asked me to run an errand while I was busy with schoolwork. When I declined, he pushed my head and accused me of being rude. I hit his hand away, and the argument turned into a physical confrontation. My mum broke up the fight, but she blamed me and asked me to apologise to him. I refused because I felt he should also be held accountable for touching me first. Since returning to school, our relationship has felt strained, and I miss the closeness we once had. Should I apologise to make peace with my mum, or am I right to expect her to understand why I was hurt?
