UK Youth Mobility Visa: Eligible Countries, Costs and Key Requirements
The UK Youth Mobility Scheme allows young citizens of selected countries to live, work and study in the UK for up to two years. Eligible applicants may also be self-employed or set up a business, subject to the scheme’s rules. Citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea aged 18 to 35 can apply. Citizens of Andorra, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, San Marino and Uruguay aged 18 to 30 are also eligible. Australia, Canada and New Zealand citizens may be able to extend their stay by an extra year. Applicants generally need at least £2,530 in savings, must pay a £340 application fee and the immigration health surcharge, usually £776 per year. Decisions are typically made within three weeks after applicants complete their application and identity checks. Visa holders can work in most jobs and study, but cannot claim public funds, work as professional sportspersons or bring dependants under this visa. Nigeria is not among the countries listed as eligible for the scheme.
