Nigeria’s shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi secured a third-place finish at the Gyulai István Memorial in Budapest with a best throw of 21.48 metres. Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri took gold with 22.04m, while Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell claimed silver with 21.52m. In the men’s 200 metres, Udodi Onwuzurike matched his season best of 20.18 seconds to also finish third. Morocco’s Yassine Hssine set a national record of 19.92 seconds to win, and Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba was second in 20.09s. These strong podium finishes give Team Nigeria a timely boost as preparations intensify for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Other standout performers at the meet included Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who won the 100m in 9.99s, and Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga, who impressed in the 400m with a season-best 44.02s.
