1 / 4

Troops of the 5 Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI arrested 12 suspects in Damasak, Borno State on July 2, 2026. The raid followed actionable intelligence from an earlier arrest at Kadauri Cattle Market. The detained suspect named meeting points and hideouts used by the support network. Coordinated cordon-and-search operations produced 12 more arrests. Those detained include Alhaji Dala Kawomi (45), Bulama Mallum Kyari (38), Shatamari Gabo Kyari (30), Tujja Saloma (20), Massa Mairami (70), Bulama Chari Fannai (36), Mustapha Mohammed (28), Bukar Bulama (23), Bunu Madu (25), Awari Baba Goni (23), Hassan Madu (34) and Chellu Malari (60). Recovered items include four mobile phones and ₦7,360 in cash. The suspects are undergoing preliminary processing before transfer to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre in Maiduguri for detailed investigation. Military sources say this is a key breakthrough in disrupting terrorist logistics and information networks in the Lake Chad region, and that efforts to identify other collaborators continue.

It's interesting that the operation followed tips from a cattle market arrest rather than direct military reconnaissance.

Local communities should report suspicious activity immediately and support ongoing intelligence efforts to prevent future attacks.
