Banditry and Killings: A Political Tool to Undermine Tinubu?
This is purely my view, and I don’t care whose ox is gored. I am not a fan of President Tinubu—yet if he delivers for Nigerians, I can become one. I believe 60–70% of recent banditry, kidnappings and herder attacks are sponsored by APC opponents. They want to destabilize Tinubu’s government and score political points. These are the same tactics used by his party in 2015. Even if Tinubu did not directly commission them, he benefited and cannot feign ignorance. Peter Obi and his allies are now engaging in the same methods. He may not plan attacks himself, but by aligning with those behind the violence, he becomes an accomplice. They seek public sympathy, yet they’ll face Tinubu’s firm grip on power and state institutions. My real grievance is not the power struggle, but that leaders forget the masses. I admire Fashola’s tangible impact on Lagos, despite his own shortcomings. Ordinary Nigerians judge on service, not propaganda. Polls show low approval ratings for this government. My prediction for the next election: APC 90%, opposition 10%. Yet in a truly fair contest it would be 50/50.
