Fans Criticise Michelle Alozie After Super Falcons’ 1-0 WAFCON Quarter-Final Loss to Cameroon

Fans Criticise Michelle Alozie After Super Falcons’ 1-0 WAFCON Quarter-Final Loss to Cameroon

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been knocked out of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-0 quarter-final defeat to Cameroon. Myriam Nyadjou’s 19th-minute free-kick was enough to send Cameroon into the semi-finals. The loss ended Nigeria’s pursuit of an 11th WAFCON title. The Super Falcons had recovered from an opening defeat to Malawi by beating Zambia 1-0 and Egypt 6-2 to reach the knockout stage. Some fans criticised defender Michelle Alozie online, pointing to her passing, decision-making and disciplinary record. Others argued that the team’s coaching and overall performance, rather than one player, were responsible for the disappointing exit. Nigeria must now turn its attention to the African play-offs as it seeks qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
