Crowding at Nigeria Airport Ebola Screening Raises Health Concerns
I arrived in Nigeria from Canada on a British Airways flight this morning and found passengers packed into a crowded area for Ebola screening. We were asked to complete online forms while standing closely together before being screened and cleared to proceed. The situation created unnecessary contact among travellers. If there were a suspected case, this kind of crowding could increase the health risk. The Federal Government, Ministry of Health and Port Health Services should allow pre-arrival forms, proper spacing and faster processing at entry points. Public-health measures should protect travellers, not force them into congested queues.
