Abuja Estate Residents Petition Wike Over Scrap Market Beside Karsana Homes

Abuja Estate Residents Petition Wike Over Scrap Market Beside Karsana Homes

Residents of Mab Global Estate, Green Residence Estate and Efab Queens Estate in Karsana, Gwarimpa, Abuja, have asked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Development Control officials to stop the construction of an informal scrap-metal market beside their perimeter fences. The homeowners say the market is being built on a green area and could create security, sanitation and planning problems for thousands of residents. They also argue that the site violates the Abuja master plan. According to the residents, the AMMC withdrew an earlier acknowledgement issued to the developer in February 2026 after reviewing their complaints. They say construction resumed in July despite the withdrawal, and have petitioned the police, DSS, AMMC and Development Control for intervention before trading begins.
