Driver Flees as Bandits Kidnap Seven Passengers on Kogi-Abuja Highway

A viral video shows a bus driver narrowly escaping kidnappers on the lonely Kabba road in Kogi State. Armed men blocked his Abuja-bound vehicle, forced seven passengers out and marched them into the bush. He abandoned his car and ran to safety despite hearing gunshots behind him. The driver was delivering a vehicle for a prominent dealer. By midnight he reached Abuja and handed over the car to its buyer. He said one passenger couldn’t keep up and was taken along with the others. This incident underscores the worsening insecurity on highways linking Abuja with North Central Nigeria. Armed groups frequently ambush travellers for ransom.
