Yemi Alade Releases ‘It’s Yemi Alade’, Her Seventh Studio Album
Yemi Alade has released her seventh studio album, It’s Yemi Alade. The 16-track project follows her 2024 album, Rebel Queen, and marks her tenth body of work. The album explores African sounds, languages and collaborations, with the guitar serving as a recurring thread across its storytelling. It features Congolese singer-producer Ferré Gola on the rumba-inspired “Coco na Yam”, Don Jazzy on “Ala Bekee”, Singuila on “Paradise”, and Jeriq on “Overtake”. Songs on the project draw from highlife, R&B, Afro-house, Congolese rumba and Igbo traditional influences. “Overtake” incorporates the ekwe slit drum, while “Ala Bekee” blends orchestral passages with wedding-band highlife.
