Cross River Plans Livestock Farmers Database to Track Government Support

The Cross River Government is developing a database of livestock farmers to create a baseline for assessing its support programmes in the sector. The planned registration will capture farmers’ locations, animal species, herd or flock sizes, production capacity and key challenges. It will also monitor animal health, mortality rates, productivity, farm income and access to veterinary care, finance and inputs. The state says the data will help it target livestock policies, identify gaps in the value chain and measure whether its interventions are improving farmers’ productivity and incomes.
