Abuja Police Rescue Four Kidnap Victims After Fierce Gun Duel

Police in the Federal Capital Territory responded to a distress call on July 8 after suspected kidnappers opened fire in Mpape and abducted four residents. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Mobile Force pursued the suspects through Jikoko Hills toward Ushafa Forest. Two victims were injured, and one later died at a nearby hospital. The other wounded victim is now recovering. In the early hours of July 10, officers located the hostages and engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gunbattle. The suspects fled, abandoning all four captives, who were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families. The FCT Police Commissioner pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice and urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest station or emergency lines.
