Court Orders Arrest of Defendant in Senator Shehu Buba Defamation Case
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of a defendant who failed to appear for further hearing in a cybercrime and defamation case involving Senator Shehu Buba Umar. Justice Offili-Ajumogobia issued the order after the defendant, identified as Muhammed, was absent despite the scheduled hearing. The prosecution witness was in court and ready to testify, but proceedings could not continue. The defendants face 11 charges, including alleged cyberstalking, defamation, fraud and solicitation of money. The case also concerns videos allegedly posted on TikTok and YouTube. The defendants have pleaded not guilty, and the allegations remain unproven. The matter was adjourned until November 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
