Selective Respect: Hypocrisy in Praising Institutions Only When Favoured

The NDC’s recent statement exposes a glaring contradiction in opposition politics. They praise INEC as professional when it registers their party but immediately brand it biased against them when a decision swings the other way. They hail the judiciary as defenders of democracy when rulings favour their agenda. Yet they cry capture whenever a judge demands all parties be heard. This is not democratic consistency but selective respect for institutions. Institutions like INEC and our courts have imperfections. True democracy demands accepting fair processes, not applauding referees for every penalty you get and accusing them of bribery for every foul against you. We must reject this emotional blackmail and insist on impartial institutions—not ones that behave like a campaign secretariat.
