Army Foils Planned Attack in Plateau, Recovers Rifles and Ammunition
Nigerian Army troops have recovered rifles, locally fabricated firearms and ammunition during an operation in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation followed intelligence about a planned attack on Mwar Community in Chakfem Kingdom. The Army said the threat may be connected to allegations that youths in the area rustled cattle. Troops raided suspected locations and searched nearby communities and bushes with drones, but the cattle were not found. A raid on the home of a suspect, Pantong Stanley, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a locally made AK-47, a locally made revolver rifle, two Dane guns and 15 rounds of ammunition. Security agencies are continuing operations to trace additional weapons, identify possible arms caches and arrest other suspects linked to the alleged plot.
