SEDC Plans 15 Agro-Mechanisation Projects Across South-East States
The South East Development Commission says it plans to establish 15 agro-mechanisation projects across Enugu, Abia, Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi states. The projects are expected to cover the three senatorial zones in each state, beginning with Enugu. At a community engagement in Nomeh, Enugu State, SEDC representatives said the initiative would provide improved seeds, agricultural expertise and support for local farmers. They said it could create jobs, attract agro-based businesses and make farming more appealing to young people. The commission said the programme is aimed at reviving the South-East’s agricultural economy and dismissed claims that it is linked to acquiring land for cattle grazing. Community leaders in Nomeh welcomed the proposed pilot project and pledged support for its implementation.
