FFS, NEMA Teach Kaduna Students Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness
The Federal Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency have taught students at Federal Government College, Kaduna, how to prevent fires and respond safely during emergencies. Officials warned that faulty wiring, overloaded sockets and unsafe handling of cooking gas can cause fire outbreaks. Students were advised not to use water on electrical fires, but to disconnect power where it is safe and use suitable firefighting equipment. The exercise, held to mark the 2026 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, included a fire simulation and first-aid demonstrations by the Nigerian Red Cross. The agencies also encouraged schools to create fire safety clubs and emergency response plans.
