Zverev Beats Shelton to Claim US Open Men’s Singles Title
Alexander Zverev defeated American Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-2 to win the US Open men’s singles title at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The German top seed took control with a strong opening set and a tense second-set tie-break. Shelton fought back to win the third set 7-5, backed by the home crowd and a more aggressive approach at the net. Zverev regained control in the fourth set, using deep groundstrokes and solid defence to force errors from Shelton. He broke early, added another break for a 5-2 lead, and served out the match to secure the trophy. The win gives Zverev his second Grand Slam title of the season after his French Open success. Shelton's bid to become the first American man in 23 years to win a major singles title fell short.
