Senate Gives NNPCL, CBN, NDDC and Others 72 Hours to Answer Audit Queries

Senate Gives NNPCL, CBN, NDDC and Others 72 Hours to Answer Audit Queries

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has given NNPCL, the Central Bank of Nigeria, NDDC, NUPRC and other federal agencies 72 hours to appear before it and respond to outstanding audit queries. The directive followed the agencies’ failure to attend a committee sitting on Monday or provide formal reasons for their absence. Committee chairman Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo said the invitations were part of the Senate’s oversight duties and efforts to clear pending audit matters. Lawmakers condemned the absences as disrespectful to the National Assembly and called for sanctions against agencies that ignore summonses. The committee ordered the affected bodies to appear on August 6, warning that further legislative action could follow if they fail to comply.
