IGP Disu Submits 75-Page State Police Blueprint to Senate Deputy President
The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has presented a comprehensive framework for establishing State Police in Nigeria to Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin. The 75-page report was delivered by Professor Olu Ogunsakin, chairman of the police committee on State Police modalities. Disu explained that the document reflects extensive consultations and offers professional insights on operational, legal and administrative aspects of devolved policing. He expressed hope that its recommendations would inform balanced decisions on Nigeria’s security architecture. Senator Jibrin praised the IGP’s proactive initiative and assured that the Constitution Review Committee would carefully consider the framework alongside other submissions. This step advances President Tinubu’s agenda to decentralise policing and secure the nation.
