Lagos Urges Councils to Develop Local Attractions for Year-Round Tourism

The Lagos State Government has asked local councils to identify, develop and promote attractions within their communities as part of plans to make Lagos a year-round tourism destination. At the "Experience the Best of Lagos" stakeholders’ meeting, tourism adviser Idris Aregbe said the state’s 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs must take ownership of grassroots tourism assets. He said places residents consider ordinary could become valuable experiences for local and international visitors when properly packaged and promoted. Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú, called for better organisation of attractions, transport and service providers. He said Lagos should use film, digital content, food, fashion, Afrobeats and entrepreneurship to tell a stronger story to international visitors.
