Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team, working with Bukuru Division, arrested 40-year-old Yakubu Danladi Pam on June 22 in Jos. They recovered a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle after credible intelligence linked him to illegal firearms possession. Pam said he bought the gun for personal protection from 19-year-old Abdulsalam Mohammed Hassan of Kadunu. Police later detained Hassan, who admitted acting as a middleman. Investigators seized a Type 06 rifle, two magazines, and 29 rounds of ammunition from him. He confessed to sourcing weapons from unknown suppliers and selling them for profit. The case is now with the State CID to trace the origin of the firearms and identify other network members. The Commissioner of Police warned that illegal arms trade threatens public safety and pledged to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
