Juventus Appeals €9.8m Ronaldo Wage Ruling Five Years After His Exit
Juventus has appealed a ruling that ordered the club to pay Cristiano Ronaldo about €9.8 million, plus interest, over wages linked to salary deferrals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ronaldo had sought €19.8 million in unpaid gross wages from the 2020–21 season. An arbitration tribunal ruled in April 2024 that both sides shared responsibility during the contract negotiations and awarded him half of the amount claimed. The Italian club argues that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction and says Ronaldo signed an agreement waiving further financial claims when he joined Manchester United in 2021. The case is now before Italy’s Court of Cassation, with no hearing date announced. Ronaldo, now at Al Nassr, recently scored his 981st career goal and is 19 goals away from the 1,000-goal mark.
