2027 Elections: How BVAS, EC8A and IReV Can Help Expose Rigging
When opposition supporters say, “They will rig 2027,” the key question is how such rigging would happen despite the available safeguards. BVAS records accredited voters and sets a ceiling for valid votes. Ballots are counted openly at polling units, while results are entered on Form EC8A for agents and observers to sign, photograph and retain. The results are also uploaded to IReV, allowing party agents and independent monitors to compare polling-unit records with later collation figures. Vote-buying, violence, compromised officials and collation manipulation remain risks, but large-scale fabrication is harder when the evidence is widely documented. Opposition parties should focus on preparation. They need trained agents, copies of every EC8A, independent result transmission and prompt reporting of discrepancies. The contest for 2027 starts at the polling unit.
