Babysitter Charged with Raping and Injuring 5-Year-Old Girl in Long Island
On March 23, prosecutors in Suffolk County detailed a disturbing case involving a 27-year-old babysitter. Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, an undocumented migrant from Guatemala, is accused of violently raping a five-year-old girl while her mother was at work. When the child’s mother returned home, her daughter complained of pain. She soon discovered the girl’s underwear soaked in blood. Medical staff at two hospitals confirmed internal injuries and performed emergency surgery. Reynoso was arrested the following day after resisting officers. He faced initial charges that would have allowed release under sanctuary policies, but federal agents intervened and secured his detention. He now faces multiple counts, including first-degree rape and predatory sexual assault of a child, carrying a potential sentence of 25 years to life. His next hearing is set for late April.
