FCTA Demolishes Abuja Buildings on Waterways After Heavy Flooding
1 / 7
The Federal Capital Territory Administration has continued demolishing buildings and other structures built on waterways and erosion channels across Abuja. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike ordered the exercise after heavy rainfall on August 16 caused flooding in several parts of the capital. Wuse 2, Gudu and Lokogoma were among the affected areas. Cars were submerged, while flooding on the bridge linking Gaduwa and Durumi stranded motorists and disrupted movement. The demolition is aimed at clearing blocked drainage paths and reducing future flood risks.
