Can Another Travel Agency Change My Return Flight Date for Less?

I left Nigeria a few months ago on a ticket booked through a travel agency. I now need to move my return flight to an earlier date. The agency that booked the ticket quoted a fee that seems too high. Can another travel agency in the country where I am currently staying handle the change at a lower cost? Has anyone changed a flight booked by a different agency? I would appreciate advice on the best option.
